Prospective students

Introduction

The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees that prepare students for a variety of challenges in today's world. The department was established in 1937 and has grown to over 500 undergraduate students and 30 active graduate students. There are 18 tenure-track and 15 annually contracted faculty. The department is the second largest in Illinois and third largest academic program at Eastern. This size ensures the department has the resources needed to provide a quality education.

Here are some of the advantages to our program:

  • You can participate in valuable internships your junior or senior year.
  • Your broadcasting classes are integrated into campus media. Students develop news programs, PSAs, work at three radio stations, broadcast sporting events, and produce cable access programming.
  • You would work with ongoing web projects.
  • You are in small classes production classes limited to 18 others limited to 25)
  • You will get to know your instructors and they take an interest in what you are doing. (We know that everyone says this but, if you visit, just ask any communication major).
